The College is seeking applicants to fill the position of Nursing Program Director.  This position is full-time, administrative and salaried.  The pay range is $49,000 to $61,000 and is augmented by a competitive, fringe benefits package.  Start date is ASAP.

Position Description Summary

The Nursing Program Director is an administrative position with teaching responsibilities that provides program leadership for the Practical Nursing program in compliance with Montana Board of Nursing guidelines.  The Director is responsible for program accreditation, curriculum development, and supervision of faculty within the program.  This position reports to the Vice-President of Instruction.

Reporting to this position are the following:

  • Nursing faculty
  • Administrative assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer the Practical Nursing program, which includes hiring and supervising faculty, recruiting and advising students, developing curriculum and maintaining state accreditation with outcomes assessment activities.
  • Teach nursing courses appropriate to background and expertise.
  • Serve as liaison for the program within the nursing and medical community and within the college.
  • Lead advisory board meetings.
  • Collect data for program evaluation.
  • Prepare and present reports for the purpose of accreditation.
  • Maintain current standards of teaching and clinical settings as required by the Montana Board of Nursing guidelines.
  • Assist with the coordination of CNA classes and instructors.
  • Expand the nursing program following state guidelines and prepare required proposals for the Montana Board of Nursing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • The director will meet the qualifications outlined by the Montana Board of Nursing, which includes a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Montana and a master’s degree with a major in nursing or a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing, supplemented by courses in curriculum development, principles and methods of teaching and measurement and evaluation.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • At least two years of experience in nursing education, including didactic and clinical teaching.
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Effective organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of use of technology in a learning environment.
  • Must be able to travel within Montana.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with nursing accreditation.
  • Extensive understanding of the nursing educational process.
  • Knowledge of the mission of community colleges and their role in nursing education.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and experience in speaking to diverse groups.
