Flathead Valley Community College is an outstanding public community college located on a beautiful campus with panoramic views of the northern Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park.  It serves two counties with a population of approximately 100,000 residents.

The College is seeking applicants to fill the positions of Early Childhood Center Teacher.  These positions are full-time, professional, and salaried.  The starting pay is $25,923 and is augmented by a competitive, fringe benefits package.  Start date ASAP.

Position Description Summary

Under direct supervision of the Director, Early Childhood Center, the Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Center is responsible for maintaining an orderly and inviting classroom that is exemplary of best practices in early childhood education and the policies of FVCC.

Reporting to this position are the following:  N/A

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum in all content areas
  • Provide activities to stimulate children’s interest
  • Plan and document a daily schedule to provide a balance of activities for children
  • Provide on going observation and documentation of children
  • Create a portfolio assessment of each child twice per school year
  • Meet with families twice yearly to discuss child’s progress and future goals.
  • Attends all required staff meetings and trainings
  • Perform a monthly inventory of supplies
  • Exhibit appropriate guidance techniques with children, other staff and family members at all times
  • Use appropriate guidance techniques with children.
  • Work as a member of a team, sharing ideas, concerns and information with other staff members.
  • Willingness and ability to continue increasing knowledge and improving skills.
  • Meet all requirements as mandated by the state of Montana.

Required Qualifications:

  • AAS in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 college credits in Early Childhood Education
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service
  • Working knowledge of computer applications
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA in Early Childhood Education
  • Early Childhood classroom teaching experience
