Approximately 100 students from Flathead Valley Community College, The University of Montana, and Whitefish High School presented their research projects to the community May 2 during FVCC’s fifth annual Scholars Conference on Student Research.
Over 25 student presentations and 65 research posters were showcased during the event. Project topics ranged widely in such categories as biology, natural resources, remote sensing, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, history, psychology, anthropology, nursing, business, and computer science, among others.
Presentation winners and their research topics included:
First Place: Skyler Bexten – Brain Computer Interfaces and Scientific Morality;
Second Place: Sean MacLean – Health Care Quality and The Affordable Care Act; and
Tied for Third Place: Sandra Boettler—Genetic ADD and its Effects on Society, and Courtney Brockman – Human Reproductive Cloning.
Poster winners and their research topics included:
First Place: Flynn Hartley – A Study of Protozoan Diversity;
Second Place: Connor Murphy – Reducing Detrimental Corrosion of Aluminum Electrodes; and
Third Place: Dewain Rosenthal – How Soil Productivity Supports Population Density.
