In an effort to meet the growing demand for local nurses, Flathead Valley Community College is increasing the enrollment capacity for its Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) Registered Nurse (RN) program. The college is now accepting applications for its next class of students that will begin this summer semester. The deadline for application submissions is April 11 at 4 p.m.
FVCC’s two-semester ASN-RN program follows the state model nursing curriculum for two-year colleges approved by the Montana Board of Regents and the Montana Board of Nursing. It is intended for individuals who are already licensed practical nurses or who have completed a State Board of Nursing-approved practical nursing program and who are eligible to take the national licensing exam for practical nurses. Graduates of the ASN-RN program will be eligible to take the National Registered Nurse Licensing Exam
Submission criteria include completion of all prerequisite courses; a valid Montana Practical Nurse License or an official transcript showing completion of an approved practical nurse program; and completion of the current FVCC ASN-RN application packet. Acceptance into the program involves completing an interview with FVCC nursing staff and faculty, passing a background check, testing negative for active tuberculosis and submitting proof of current personal health insurance. The college will admit eight students into the ASN-RN program this summer semester.
New students are required to complete the FVCC Application for Admission and follow the steps for enrolling. The application may be completed on the college’s website at www.fvcc.edu or in the Admissions Office via paper application at no cost.
