The Flathead Valley Community College Art Department will bring back its printmaking course this fall, but for the first time, the course will be offered during the evening.

The focus of the course will involve a comprehensive printmaking processes that encompasses block and reduction printing as well as the intaglio printing process.  Instructed by Josh Mohler, the class also will cover the production of portfolio boxes, which serve as edition storage, and a collaborative effort involving bookmaking.

“We have had many people request that we offer the printmaking course in the evenings,” said Mohler.  “We hope that this will better accommodate student schedules and give more people a chance to experience the art of printmaking.”

The printmaking room, described by the college’s art department as one of the best-kept secrets on the FVCC campus, offers two quality presses and operates a non-toxic studio practice covering a wide range of supports (papers) and procedures.

The course will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning August 29.  The enrollment is limited to 10 students, so registering early for the class is recommended.  For more information, contact Mohler at 261-0091 or John Rawlings at 756-3896.  For registration information, call 756-3848, or visit www.fvcc.edu.
