Highlights from FVCC Board of Trustees July Meeting

The Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees met July 23 for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

President Jane Karas, Ph.D., reported on her eleventh annual community conversations.  President Karas traveled to eight communities from Eureka to Polson and met with community members, school officials and legislators, sharing information on the college’s activities and operations and collecting feedback on the college’s strengths and areas of opportunity.  President Karas shared the feedback from the communities to the Trustees and meeting attendees.

In action items, The Board approved the second reading of the Fiscal Year 2013 proposed general fund budget of $15,962,086.    The Board also approved a total continuing education budget of $830,000, including $780,000 for the Flathead County Campus in Kalispell and $50,000 for the Lincoln County Campus in Libby.

President Karas reported on the Montana Legislators and 2012 Candidates Higher Education Discussion sponsored by the college and The University of Montana July 20.  She also announced the construction of the new tennis courts is expected to be completed by the end of July.
