Summer 2012 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients Announced

Four Flathead Valley Community College students have been named summer 2012 recipients of the Community Pride Scholarship sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union.  The following students will receive scholarships totaling $1,600 for the summer 2012 semester at FVCC.

From Columbia Falls:  Joy Pattengale, pursuing studies toward her career goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.

From Kalispell:  Deborah Adams, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in practical nursing; Patricia Holcomb, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in substance abuse counseling and human services; and Shelly Struck, pursuing a degree in communications toward her career goal of working with county or state youth programs.

This is the seventeenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.  Throughout this successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $79,545 in scholarships to 243 students enrolled at FVCC.

Community Pride Scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from a non-family member such as a teacher, counselor or employer.  The amount of each individual scholarship award varies.  Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs for FVCC students also are considered.
