Nancy Gordley, longtime Flathead Valley Community College Foundation Board member and owner of Great Harvest Bread Company in Kalispell, was presented the college’s prestigious Eagle Award for the 2011-2012 academic year by FVCC President Jane Karas, Ph.D., during the 17th annual President’s Donor Dinner May 10. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to FVCC.
According to the nomination, Gordley has served on the college’s Foundation Board for 17 years. Under her leadership, the Board has raised millions of dollars for student scholarships and other projects as they were needed. She has served in key roles for major fundraising events which have helped the Foundation grow by $50,000 annually for at least the last six years.
Karas recognized Gordley’s leadership through her service as chair of the Foundation’s Building for Success campaign.
“Through this person’s dedicated efforts, the dream of our college’s Occupational Trades Building, Arts and Technology Building and Early Childhood Center came true,” Karas said.
Karas acknowledged Gordley for establishing an endowed scholarship fund in her late husband’s honor to ensure the futures of FVCC students.
“Her dedication to the future of FVCC and to the futures of our students speaks volumes and has been influential to other Foundation Board members,” she said. “With her leadership, the Board has continued to function as a highly-effective unit to bring the best of the college to the community and the best of the community to the college.”
