The Flathead Valley Community College Art Department will welcome visiting artist Jeff Brown for a free presentation and demonstrations he will deliver for the community September 29.
Brown joined the art faculty at Nicholls State University at Thibodaux, La., in 2003. He teaches all levels of ceramics and two-dimensional design. Prior to earning a Master of Fine Arts degree at Ohio University, Brown served as an artist-in-residence at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Brown works primarily with clay, exploring both functional pottery and sculptural forms. He also builds contemporary furniture and sculpture. His works have been exhibited in regional, national and international exhibitions.
Brown’s presentation will take place at 6 p.m. in room 108 inside the Arts and Technology Building on the FVCC Kalispell campus. If weather allows, Brown also will conduct wood firing demonstrations.
In addition, Brown will join FVCC ceramics students all day September 30 in the college’s ceramics lab located in room 119 of the Arts and Technology Building.
