The Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees convened for a meeting July 6.
After undergoing a bid process, the Board voted to award a contract to Oswood Construction to construct the new Maintenance & Storage Building. The company’s bid of $832,600 was the lowest among the seven sealed bids the college received. FVCC President Jane Karas explained that the college is required to contract with the lowest qualified bidder according to state bid policy. Following the reviewing and signing of the contract, construction of the building will begin July 18.
The Board voted to enter into a five-year lease agreement with Kalispell Regional Medical Center (KRMC) for 16 apartments to rent as student housing units on the KRMC campus. The cost is $2,980 per month, totaling $35,760 per year. According to Karas, this partnership will provide opportunities for students to have access to affordable housing near the college campus.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place July 25 at 3:45 p.m. For more information regarding specific items included in this report or regarding college activities, contact Tara Roth at 756-3912. For more information on board meetings, contact Monica Settles at 756-3801.
