Three Flathead Valley Community College students have been named spring 2011 recipients of Community Pride Scholarships sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union. The students will receive scholarships totaling $900 for the summer 2011 semester at FVCC.
Dezirae Fletcher, of Kalispell, is pursuing studies toward a career in human services and social work. Tamara Gilham, of Kalispell, is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in English toward her career goal of becoming a junior college professor. Wade Robinson, of Kalispell, is pursuing general studies coursework toward an Associate of Arts transfer degree with plans for a career in nursing.
This is the sixteenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln Counties. Throughout this successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $75,345 in scholarships to 234 students enrolled at FVCC.
Community Pride scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from non-family members. The amount of each scholarship award varies. Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs for FVCC students also are considered.
