Flathead Valley Community College is offering more than 90 non-credit classes for all ages this summer. Copies of the summer schedule have been mailed to all Flathead County residents and also are available at the college. The schedule can be viewed online at www.fvcc.edu/continuing-education.
This summer, the college will debut a new intergenerational program inviting grandparents and their grandchildren to learn together. The classes “Side by Side Writing Adventure” and “Japanese Experience” are geared toward children in grades 4-7 and their grandparents and will take place June 17.
Kid’s College will return for three weeks beginning June 13. The program will offer 35 week-long, half-day classes for kids of all interests, abilities and grade levels. Some new classes include “Craters on the Moon,” “Exploring Costa Rica,” “Khemistry in the Kitchen” and “An Australian Adventure.” Also new, the “Junior Chef’s Training” classes will provide an opportunity for each child to pair up with an adult to learn as a team.
New computer classes will include “SketchUp—Introduction to 3D Modeling,” “Lightroom 3—An Introduction for Digital Photographers” and “Creating Documents and Email Attachments.”
Returning favorites will include “Zumba Fitness,” “Traditional Jitterbug,” “Writing the First Novel,” “Native American Spirituality,” and “Facebook for Business.”
Registration is ongoing throughout the semester. Classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. With the exception of Kid’s College, registrations can be completed online at www.fvcc.edu/continuing-education or by calling 756-3832.
